Spain is still around and they have a great chance of reaching the finals, given that they are the European champions. If Germany takes care of Argentina, then Spain will surely take care of Germany and sends him off to play for the winner of the placement match. Uruguay and Argentina are the last two teams of South America left in this tournament and we will know the outcome of their games today and tomorrow. The favorite Brazil has fallen in the hands of the Dutch - 2-1 in favor of Netherland. Now Ghana may win this whole thing. Ghana is only 3 matches away from the finals....go Ghana you can beat Uruguay and Netherland.

The black shining stars are the HOPE of Africa right now - although a team full of young talented players, I think that they have a great chance of seeing the quarters finals. Personally, I was very disappointed with CAMEROON performance today. South Africa is OK, even though they should be able to do better or more against FRANCE next week. Nigeria was also a disappointment, but I am still rooting for them since I know what they are capable of accomplishing. Algeria was not bad at all, given that they are the only African team in these finals world cup exclusively coached by an African. I am proud of Algeria even though I expect them to do a little better, I don't see them going anywhere. Statistics or History has it that the team that loses its first match has a hard time advancing to the round of 16. IVORY COAST IS NEXT...

Ghana - won his first match
South Africa - drew on his first match
Nigeria - lost first match
Cameroon - lost first match
Algeria - lost first match

I just hope that more african teams will advance to the round of 16 so that we have one or two chances of seeing an African country to the Quarter finals. Maybe Drogba is the only hope left for Africa right now - unfortunately he is hurt and awaiting his broken arm to heal - too bad for Ivory Coast!
